Hypochlorous acid

What is Hypochlorous acid?

Hypochlorous acid is naturally produced by white blood cells as part of the body’s immune response. Our formulation recreates this process using salt, water and electrolysis resulting in a skin-safe solution that helps reduce acne-causing bacteria and support barrier recovery.

Is Hypochlorous acid safe for my skin?

Yes. It’s a substance your body already produces, which is why it’s gentle and suitable for sensitive skin.

Is Hypochlorous acid suitable for my skin type?

Hypochlorous acid is suitable for all skin types because it is well tolerated and non-irritating. It can be used on sensitive, acne-prone, dry, oily, and compromised skin, helping to calm the skin while supporting its natural barrier.

Can I get an allergic reaction from Hypochlorous acid?

Allergic reactions are unlikely, as Hypochlorous acid is naturally produced by the body and is well tolerated by the skin. Patch testing is recommended before first use.

Where is our Hypochlorous acid made?

We are a UK based company and our Hypochlorous acid is made in the UK, specifically Scotland.

Why does Hypochlorous Acid have a light scent?

Hypochlorous acid has a very mild, clean scent that comes from the molecule itself when it’s freshly active. This subtle smell is a sign of purity and effectiveness, and it fades quickly after application. No fragrance or harsh additives are used.

Why will you not sell Hypochlorous combined with another product?

Hypochlorous acid works best on its own. Combining it with other ingredients can reduce effectiveness, and we don’t believe in selling products that don’t perform. Years of testing with the global leaders in Hypochlorous acid production confirms that a pure, single-ingredient formula delivers the best results.

Can I use Hypochlorous acid if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?

Hypochlorous acid is naturally produced by the body and is considered low risk for topical use. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your healthcare professional before use.

Why do your bottles have a UV inhibitor in the HDPE?

Hypochlorous acid is sensitive to light exposure, which can reduce its effectiveness over time. A UV inhibitor is incorporated into our HDPE bottles to help protect the formula from light degradation, ensuring stability, safety, and efficacy throughout the product’s shelf life.

Sustainability

Is the bottle recyclable?

Yes, to reduce our environmental impact, our bottles are made using Prevented Ocean Plastic™, helping stop plastic waste before it reaches the ocean whilst supporting coastal communities. This is recyclable and supports the circular economy.

Why choose Prevented Ocean Plastic™ for your bottles?

There is a huge problem.

According to academic study, 80% of ocean plastic comes from land-based sources, with most entering from developing coastal communities. Every year more than 12 million tonnes of plastic waste enters the ocean.

But the truth is that when a bottle hits the water, it’s too late. The sun and the salt water degrade the plastic within a few days, making it largely unusable for recycling. This makes the removal of ocean plastic a clean-up effort, not a recycling effort. This is why we act to ensure that the plastic never reaches the water. Together we can change behaviours by making better plastic choices.

Are you a vegan and cruelty free brand?

Yes.

We are proud to be cruelty-free, fragrance-free and alcohol-free.
